Ventilators: Why Homeowners Choose Them
The benefits that matter most in a Montgomery County home:
- Fresh air without losing heating or cooling energy
- Up to 84% of indoor heat recovered before exhaust
- Better for allergy sufferers than opening windows
- Cuts cooking and pet odors, smoke and pollutants
- Tool-free filter changes and a simple wall control
A ventilator suits tightly sealed homes that get stuffy, and households with allergies who want fresh air without pollen through the windows. Airflow ratings from 150 to 231 CFM let us match the unit to the house.
Fresh air that keeps its energy
The Details
Ventilators bring fresh air into your home without losing the heating or cooling energy you paid for. An energy exchange core transfers that energy from the stale air being exhausted to the fresh air coming in: up to 84% of the indoor heat is recovered before the exhaust leaves, which helps minimize utility costs. The core also removes excess humidity from recirculated air, and an air filter cleans the incoming outdoor air of small particles. A damper defrost engages below 23 degrees Fahrenheit, so no supplemental energy-consuming electric defroster is needed.
Good To Know
If your family suffers from allergies, a ventilator is a much better way to bring in fresh air than opening windows, and it does a great job pulling cooking and pet odors, smoke and other pollutants out of the house. The Carrier Performance line covers Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVXXLHB up to 210 CFM, ERVXXSHA up to 150 CFM) and Heat Recovery Ventilators (HRVXXLHB up to 231 CFM, HRVXXSVA up to 160 CFM), all quiet operation, with briefcase-style exterior latches for tool-free filter changes and a simple wall control.

On a 100° holiday weekend our air conditioner quit. We called Central Heating & Cooling, Montgomery City MO, and they answered, took our name & said they would get to us as soon as they could. That was at 10am on a Sunday morning. At 3:00pm that day Ben B showed up and within 45 minutes we had cool air again! He was FANTASTIC!! He knew what he was doing, did it efficiently and was also very nice and friendly. I don't want my unit to break again but I would certainly like to work with the Company & Ben B again!!!Posted on Google![]()

Dominic did a thorough and professional job in diagnosing and repairing our AC. He even went into the crawl space under the house to make sure no mice had chewed through the wiring. He was very methodical in his approach in diagnosing our problem. He checked out the entire system to make sure we were ready for the summer. We certainly will use Central again should the need arise.Posted on Google![]()

The PVC tubing for the pressure release valve on my hot water heater snapped off. The Central repairman came very quickly and replaced the tubing. Then I remembered the worn out flapper in the toilet tank and he replaced that as well. Very professional and pleasant to work with. Highly recommend.Posted on Google![]()

- FAQs
Ventilators: Frequently Asked Questions
Does fresh air mean higher heating bills?
No. The heat exchanger core recovers up to 84% of the indoor heat from the outgoing air and transfers it to the incoming air, which helps minimize utility costs.
Is a ventilator better than opening windows?
For allergy sufferers, much better. The incoming air passes through a filter, and the system also pulls cooking and pet odors, smoke and other pollutants out of the home.
What about frost in winter?
A damper defrost engages when temperatures drop below 23 degrees Fahrenheit, preventing frost inside the unit without a supplemental electric defroster.
